Suspend Peace Negotiations with ELN, Says Senator Uribe, Until Insurgents Observe ‘Total Cessation of Criminal Activity’ (S)
Soon after his release from prostate surgery, former president and now senator Alvaro Uribe called for a suspension of peace conversations between the government and ELN until the insurgents observe a “total cessation of criminal activity”.
Those were his words to the media after leaving Medellín Clínica IQ InterQuirófanos de Medellín, there he had surgery last Wednesday a procedure for which he had to be rest for six days.
ELN, says Uribe, “murders the nation’s soldiers, blows up a pipeline, attacks citizens in Bogotá and nothing happens. Dialogue should be suspended until ELN accepts and abides by a total cessation of criminal activity,” said the founder of the Centro Deomcrático. El País
