From AK 47, to Pietro Berettas, M60 Machine Guns — the Weapons FARC is Turning In (S)
This Wednesday, March 1, FARC guerrillas, gathered in the 26 zones and points across Colombia, began the gradual process to lay down the weapons that symbolized their lives as guerrillas and the fear of their enemies and opponents.
The M60 (US made Machine Gun Caliber 7.62 mm, M60) was used by FARC and considered a war trophy, as they captured them in combat with the military.
Many guerrillas expressed nostalgia for leaving a weapon that saved their lives, but also hope that they won’t be depending on them in the future. Photographs by Óscar Pérez. El Espectador
