International Red Cross Starts Process to Remove Children from FARC Camps (S)
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) confirms that the first humanitarian operation of 2017 is already underway to remove children from FARC transitional zones.
These newest operations are the result of recent meetings between representatives of the Colombian Government and the FARC-EP. There will be several such operations in different parts of the country, and will involve several designated social organizations to prepare minors for their transfer and the subsequent process of reincorporation.
Medical staff of the ICRC will ensure that the health status of adolescents is adequate for their transfer to the place the transitional shelter that will receive the and which will be headed by a UNICEF team, along with a delegate from the Presidential Adviser for Human Rights and Representatives of the National Council of Reincorporation.
If necessary, the ICRC will also assist minors in restoring contact with their families. Following these operations, minors will be able to continue with the process of reincorporation. ICRC
