Colombian Senator Daniel Cabrales Blames FARC for Mocoa Tragedy; Walks Back Charges (S)
While participating in one of the marches against the government organized on Saturday by the Democratic Center, Senator Daniel Cabrales committed an unfortunate mistake: He blamed FARC guerrillas for the mudslide in Mocoa (Putumayo) which has already claimed the lives of more than 200 people.
The uribista politician said during demonstrations in Montería (Córdoba) that ,”I hear that (the mudslide) was caused by explosive dynamite deposited by FARC. Santos forgot many things that the country needs”. His words were recorded in an audio posted by ‘La W Radio’.
Then, from the stage, after a minute of silence for victims, he said that the tragedy “was caused by explosives left by FARC” and that “unfortunately, there is no such peace as Juan Manuel Santos says.” He later walked back his charges. El Tiempo.
