‘Peace is Better for Colombia Than War’: Bill Clinton; Former President Notes Nation’s Advances (S)

MEDELLÍN, COLOMBIA (11 / JUL / 2017) .- Former US President Bill Clinton said at the World Forum of Coffee Growers  that “Peace is better than war”. Mr. Clinton highlighted the agreement that allowed FARC guerrillas to lay down their arms.

Clinton had the opportunity to visit the city’s communes 13 and 17, once considered the most violent in Medellín. He climbed the neighborhoods using the Metrocable and the escalators which are part of the city’s public transportation system.

“I am very honored to visit Medellín again and I was able to see the fruits of peace as I went up to communes 13 and 17. This was impossible before,” said Clinton, who was cheered several times during his speech at the sustainability on the global economy.

The former president of the United States assured that with peacebuilding, adaptation to climate change, and environmental protection, Colombia can see results in its growth and economic development. Informador Mx
