Former President and current Senator Alvaro Uribe blasted French President François Hollande's scheduled visit to one of the nation's demobilization zones, in La Elvira, near Cali. Uribe tweeted that "Hollande has been unable to face yihadist terrorism and now visits the Colombia that's been surrendered to FARC". Mr. Hollande will visit Colombia January 22 to 24.
French President Francois Hollande is scheduled to arrive in Colombia Sunday 22 January to visit FARC concentration areas in the company of his counterpart Juan Manuel Santos. This visit to reaffirm France's commitment to the peace process will take place on 23 and 24. Both heads of state will laster meet behind closed doors with the guerrilla leader Pablo Catatumbo. FARC guerrillas must start handing over weapons in the coming weeks. France contributes 17 million euros (about 18 million dollars) to the European fund of 95 million euros to support Colombia in the post-conflict period. Senator Alvaro Uribe denounced the visit.
